Medical Assistants (MA) in the medical office setting supports providers by delivering direct and indirect patient care in a professional, courteous, and efficient manner. The MA may assist with clinical procedures, maintains accurate documentation, and provides administrative support to ensure smooth daily operations. The MA functions within their defined scope of practice (based on office type clinic/HOD), under supervision, and in alignment with Mercy's mission and standards of care.

Monday thru Thursday 7:30-430 and Friday 730-1230.

What You'll Do
Patient Care & Clinical Support
Welcome and room patients while creating a positive patient experience.
Obtain and document vital signs.
Complete Advanced Standard Rooming activities (Primary Care clinics only).
Collect and update patient medical and medication histories.
Prepare patients for examinations and assist providers during procedures.
Perform basic diagnostic testing, including:
Urine dipsticks
Blood glucose testing
EKGs
Other approved tests as competency allows
Document patient care accurately and promptly within the electronic health record (EHR).
Reinforce patient education provided by physicians or nursing staff.
Administrative & Office Support
Schedule diagnostic testing, specialist referrals, and follow-up appointments.
Assist with front office operations, including:
Answering phones
Patient check-in and check-out
Managing faxes and scanned documents
Maintain accurate patient records and support efficient office workflows.
Clinic Operations & Team Collaboration
What We're Looking For
Minimum Qualifications
High School Diploma or equivalent
Ability to successfully complete MA Clinic Academy Training upon hire
Hospital Outpatient Department (HOD) Requirement
Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification

Our Mercy health system was founded by the Sisters of Mercy in 1986. But our heritage goes back more than 185 years. It began with an Irish woman named Catherine McAuley, who wanted to help the poor women and children of Dublin. Though Catherine had a modest upbringing, she received an unexpected inheritance that allowed her to fulfill her dreams. In 1827, she opened the first House of Mercy in Dublin, intending to teach skills to poor women and educate children. Many volunteers came to help. A few years later, Catherine founded the Sisters of Mercy, the first religious order not bound to the rules of the cloister, whose Sisters were free to walk among the poor and visit them in their homes. By the time Catherine died in 1841, there were convents in Ireland and England, and in 1843, the Sisters of Mercy came to the United States. In 1871, they traveled to St. Louis and from there throughout the Midwest, beginning what would, today be known as Mercy.
