An outpatient cancer center in Brooklyn, NY is seeking a Medical Assistant (MA) to support patient flow, clinical preparation, and hands-on care in a busy oncology setting. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented medical assistant with strong phlebotomy and vital signs experience who thrives in a patient-facing environment.
About the Opportunity:
- Shift: Day shift
- Schedule: Monday to Friday
- Hours: 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM
- Setting: Outpatient clinical setting
Responsibilities:
- Support patient intake, rooming, and flow to help maintain an efficient and positive patient experience.
- Obtain and document vital signs, height, weight, and other preliminary assessments in the electronic medical record.
- Perform phlebotomy, EKGs, and point-of-care testing in accordance with provider orders.
- Prepare exam rooms and maintain proper stocking, cleaning, sterilization, and infection control standards.
- Assist with patient communication, appointment follow-up, referrals, and general administrative and clinical support.
Qualifications:
- 1 to 2 years of experience as a Medical Assistant in a hospital or physician office setting.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Certification as a Medical Assistant.
- CPR certification.
- EKG and phlebotomy training.
- Recent clinical experience as a Medical Assistant.
- Strong phlebotomy experience and experience performing blood draws.
- Office and administrative skills.
- Computer literacy and basic data entry proficiency.
- Excellent customer service, interpersonal, and communication skills.
Desired Skills:
- Experience in an oncology or cancer center setting.
- Associate degree or equivalent education, training, and clinical experience.
