Medical Assistant (MA) - Community Health

A New York City-based health services network is seeking a certified Medical Assistant (CMA) to join their team in Brooklyn.

About the Opportunity:

• Schedule: Monday to Friday

• Hours: 9am to 5pm (rotates to 11am to 7pm every 3 weeks)

• Setting: Onsite

Responsibilities:

• Support providers during patient visits by obtaining and documenting vital signs and other patient information in the electronic medical record

• Perform phlebotomy, collect and process specimens, and complete point-of-care testing with required quality control procedures

• Assist with EKGs, procedures, patient preparation, and chaperone duties as needed

• Maintain exam room supplies, order lab materials, and help keep clinical areas stocked and organized

• Support patient care coordination, including appointment scheduling, prescription requests, prior authorizations, and follow-up documentation

• Perform other duties, as needed

Qualifications:

• Up to 2 years of prior Medical Assistant experience

• High School Diploma / GED

• Medical Assistant (MA) certificate from an approved school

• National Medical Assistant certification (CCMA)

• BLS certification

• Experience with vital signs, Phlebotomy, EKGs, rapid testing, and point-of-care testing

• Basic computer proficiency and comfort learning new electronic medical record systems

• Strong interpersonal and communication skills

Desired Skills:

• Bilingual (English and Spanish)

• Experience working in Primary Care or Community Health settings

• Familiarity with ECW or other Electronic Medical Records

• Psychiatric Care experience

• Experience supporting care for diverse patient populations
