Medical Assistant (MA) - Orthopedic Department

A New York City health services organization is looking to add a certified Medical Assistant (MA) to join its Orthopedic Department in Brooklyn.

About the Opportunity:

• Shift: Day
• Schedule: Monday to Friday
• Hours: 7am to 3pm or 8am to 4pm or 9am to 5pm or 10am to 6pm or 11am to 7pm
• Setting: Ambulatory care center

Responsibilities:

• Support patient flow by greeting patients, escorting them to exam rooms, and coordinating with the care team.
• Take vital signs, record patient information, and enter data into the electronic medical record.
• Assist physicians during examinations and procedures, including preparing rooms and supplies.
• Perform phlebotomy and EKGs as ordered and document results appropriately.
• Provide patient support with scheduling, phone calls, referrals, and other front-office or clinical tasks as needed.

Qualifications:

• 1+ year of related work experience in an Ambulatory Care setting
• High School Diploma / GED
• Completion of a Medical Assistant (MA) program
• Medical Assistant (MA) certification
• Experience taking vital signs and assisting with procedures
• Phlebotomy and EKG skills
• Knowledge of EMR systems and medical office registration

Desired Skills:

• Bilingual (English and Cantonese, Mandarin, Russian or Spanish)
• Experience in orthopedics, bone and joint, or hospital-based care
• Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel
