JOB SUMMARY: This role is in a Community Health clinical site setting; working on a team of committed professionals supporting Physicians, Nurse Practitioners and Nurses, while also providing patient care and administrative duties necessary to deliver quality patient care to a diverse and vulnerable population.

This employee will work as part of the PCMH team with the following essential duties and responsibilities include the following:

Essential duties and Responsibilities include the following:

  • Provide full-cycle appointment management for clinic site (patient follow-up and drop-in appointments, specialty services and testing) to optimize clinic patient hours.
  • Document all services in eClinical Works (EMR) system.
  • Manage all front office tasks including; basic intake and collection of patient demographics, insurance information, privacy practice forms, its collection and management, faxing, and filing.
  • Referral coordination with patient contact for date of appointment.
  • Insurance verification on all patients requesting a visit.
  • Ensure all registration information is completed and updated accurately at the time of each appointment.
  • Responsible for printing pre-visit planning in preparation for huddle.
  • Follow all Federal, State and City regulations and guidelines regarding to medical clinic operations.
  • Responsible for understanding CFH’s Medical Clinic Policy and Procedures.
  • Assist in taking medical histories, vital signs, recording height and weight at Nurse Manager/Provider request.
  • Performs phlebotomy and collects lab specimens, as requested, using appropriate protocols, such as infection control. Logs information into EMR/vendor system, labels, and routes lab specimens according to standard procedure.
  • Ensures that results are received on all lab specimens submitted.
  • Maintains order and cleanliness of examination rooms.
  • Ensures medical supplies are maintained and reordered.
  • Disposes of expired supplies according to procedures.
  • Performs equipment checks and completes required logs; which may include refrigerator logs, eyewash logs, sample medication logs, AED, and other required checks/logs.
  • Liaise with laboratory and pharmacies as directed by provider and Nurse Manager.
  • Performs monthly NYSDOH Article 28 policy walkthroughs.
  • Submits work orders as indicated upon completion of Article 28 walkthrough.
  • Assist with change of simple dressings, check urine for glucose and ketones and other tests as directed by Nurse Managers and provider staff.
  • Perform EKG exams.
  • Point-of-care testing as directed by the provider (HIV, Hep C, additional CLIA waived tests).
  • Perform all required point of care proficiency tests.
  • Perform lot specific Quality Assurance checks and log all results on all point of care testing.
  • Report issues or challenges to provider(s), Nurse Managers and Director of Practice Management.


JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

Educational Requirements:

  • AA degree preferred, High School Diploma required
  • Medical Assistant
  • Basic Life Support Certificate required.

Experience:

  • 1-2 Years of experience as MA with medical office experience preferred.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with multicultural and language-deficit patients.
  • Effective interpersonal and communication skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and Word
  • Excellent telephone etiquette
  • Bilingual-Spanish preferred
  • Experience using eClinical is a Plus!
Pay: $25.46
