A Medical Assistant
To support the VA Southern Nevada Healthcare System
At the North Las Vegas VA Medical Center, Radiology Department
Qualifications:
· Minimum of 1 Year experience as a Medical Assistant
·Certified as a Medical Assistant is a plus but not required!
License/Certification:
Basic Life Support Certification (BLS)
Medical Assistant
Duties: Including, but not limited to:
Provide mobility assistance to patients requiring transport by wheelchair, stretchers, medical beds, or other clinical transport devices within the radiology department and other departments within the VA Medical Center.
Use Safe Patient Handling equipment and techniques to perform patient lifts, transfers, and other assistive maneuvers for imaging procedures.
Assist nurses, technologists and physicians with diagnostic and therapeutic procedures performed in the imaging unit, including positioning and preparing patients.
Safely transport collected specimens to the laboratory for analysis, deliver specimens to designated areas, and time-stamp dispatch sheets upon delivery.
Establish helpful relationships with patients, interact in a courteous manner, provide emotional support, friendly assistance, sympathetic understanding, and encouragement to patients and families in the Imaging Service.
