Medical Assistants perform administrative and clinical duties under the direct supervision of a medical provider – physician, physician assistant or nurse practitioner – in the medical office setting.  Responsibilities of the role include:

 

Clinical Functions:	Administrative Functions:
·Taking patients to rooms	·Greeting patients
·Obtaining vital signs	·Scheduling appointments
·Performing phlebotomy	·Answering phones
·Obtaining lab specimens	·Clerical & computer work
·Adhering to safety and infection guidelines	·Faxing
·Maintaining electronic medical records (EMR)	·Disability & Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA) paperwork

 

Qualifications:

Desired:

• One year Nursing Assistant, PCA or MA

• High School Diploma or GED;

• Certified Medical Assistant Desired: Certification or National Registry as a Certified Medical Assistant or Registered Medical Assistant.
