Job Summary: 

The Medical Assistant at ACE Wellness Center supports the delivery of integrated mental and physical healthcare by performing both clinical and administrative duties. This individual will work closely with licensed medical professionals and behavioral health staff to assist in patient care, support efficient clinic operations, and ensure a welcoming and safe environment for all clients. 

Key Responsibilities: 

Clinical Duties: 

  • Prepare patients for examination, including taking vital signs, weight, and medical history. 
  • Assist physicians and nurses during exams and minor procedures. 
  • Collect and process lab specimens (e.g., blood, urine), perform basic lab tests, and document results. 
  • Administer medications or vaccinations under the direction of a licensed provider. 
  • Sterilize medical instruments and maintain a clean and organized clinical environment. 
  • Monitor patient flow to ensure timely service and support. 
Administrative Duties: 

  • Schedule patient appointments and follow-ups. 
  • Verify patient insurance and collect co-pays as applicable. 
  • Maintain and update patient electronic medical records (EHR) with accurate and timely documentation. 
  • Communicate with pharmacies, labs, and other healthcare providers as needed. 
  • Answer phones, respond to patient inquiries, and relay messages appropriately. 
Qualifications: 

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required. 
  • Completion of a Medical Assistant Certification Program (CMA or RMA preferred). 
  • CPR/BLS certification (or ability to obtain). 
  • At least 1 year of experience in a healthcare setting preferred; behavioral health experience is a plus. 
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and customer service skills. 
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. 
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and electronic health record systems. 
Work Environment: 

  • Outpatient behavioral health clinic setting. 
  • May involve occasional local travel to other ACE Wellness Center sites or community outreach locations. 
  • Requires standing, walking, and light lifting throughout the day.
