    Medical Assistant or CNA

    Program: Opioid Treatment Program (OTP) - High Point Outpatient Services - Plymouth, MA
    Education: High school diploma or equivalent GED preferred. Medical Assistant certification or Certified Nurse Assistant required
    Pay Range: Dependent on certification - $22/hr-$27/hr for Medical Assistant; $21/hr-$26/hr for CNA
    Status: Full Time; 40hrs/week
    Schedule: Monday-Friday; 4:45am-1:30pm

High Point has programs located throughout Southeastern Massachusetts offering a full continuum of care for substance use and mental health treatment, including inpatient, outpatient, residential, and community-based services. Programs and services also assist survivors of abuse, violence, and families experiencing homelessness. High Point believes that everyone has inherent goodness, worth, and dignity. Our goal is to help individuals and families achieve personal change and improve their quality of life.

    Outpatient substance use disorder and mental health services are located across Southeastern Massachusetts in Brockton, New Bedford, and Plymouth. At most sites, services are provided during the day, and many clinics have evening hours. We offer individual, group, medication management, and family services to address diverse clinical needs. An interdisciplinary team of professionals includes licensed social workers, mental health clinicians, Master’s level clinicians, certified addictions clinicians, psychiatrists, and psychologists. Office Based Opioid Treatment Program (OTP) provides outpatient expedited access to medication for those with opioid use disorder. OTP works to increase timeliness of the induction period to stabilize those seeking MOUD (medication for opioid use disorder).

    Medical Assistant or CNA Requirements

    • Must present as courteous and professional at all times.
    • Demonstrated flexibility and ability to perform multiple tasks.
    • Must have excellent communication skills, including the ability to organize ideas in logical and clear fashion.
    • Knowledge of basic computer skills and software programs including the ability to learn, use and train HPAHO`s electronic medical records.
    • Must have the ability to work with others in cooperative and collaborative manner.
    • An understanding of the relationship between substance uses and mental health issues and/or self-help programs.
    • An understanding of boundaries and ethics.
    • Comply with Federal Regulations, 42 CFR Part 2, Confidentiality of Alcohol Abuse Policy and HIPAA Regulations.
    • Certification in the HPAO approved de-escalation program.
    • CPR Certification.
    • TB screening.

    Medical Assistant or CNA Duties & Responsibilities

    • Maintain effective and organized systems to ensure timely patient flow.
    • Greets patients and monitors the dosing line.
    • Escorts patients to exam rooms, interviews patients, measures vital signs as needed and documents.
    • Prepares patients for examination, sets up equipment and assists the physician/NP during exams as needed.
    • Collects and prepares laboratory specimens.
    • Performs basic laboratory tests such as drawing blood and testing urines.
    • Takes electrocardiograms if needed.
    • Updates list of current patient medication history.
    • Assists front desk in scheduling appointments.
    • Assists biller in correcting error reports.
    • Handles correspondence under direction of provider; notifies PCP.
    • Sterilize equipment as needed.
    • Maintain clean environment in all medical areas and maintains adequate medical supplies.
    • Maintains all logs such as refrigerator temperatures, emergency medication, expired medications, oxygen and supplies as directed by nursing.
    • Always utilize standard precautions.
    • Demonstrates behaviors that recognize the rights of patients/clients as defined by the patient’s right.
    • Attend all unit, facility meeting and case conferences as director by Supervisor.
    • Attend mandatory training.
    • Other duties as assigned by the Program Administrator, Clinical Director, Site Director, Director of Nursing, Medical Provider, and COO.

    Medical Assistant or CNA Qualifications

    • Graduate of formal medical assistant program or CNA certification;
    • Ability to multitask and handle several responsibilities at once;
    • Knowledge of healthcare and medical terminology;
    • Proficient computer skills;
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
