Medical Assistant Pediatrics Location: Pasadena, CA Duration: 13 Weeks Schedule: Days | 5x8s | Monday Friday | 8:00 AM 5:00 PM Start Date: 07/13/2026
Position Summary
Huntington Health Physicians is seeking an experienced Pediatric Medical Assistant to support providers in a fast-paced outpatient pediatric clinic. The ideal candidate will have prior pediatric experience and be comfortable assisting with well-child visits, immunizations, pediatric blood draws, developmental screenings, and routine pediatric clinical procedures.
Key Responsibilities
Patient Care
Room patients and obtain accurate vital signs, height, weight, pulse oximetry, vision, and hearing screenings.
Record patient histories, medications, allergies, and chief complaints.
Assist providers during examinations and office procedures.
Administer medications and immunizations according to pediatric vaccination schedules.
Perform wound care, dressing changes, suture removal, ear lavage, TB testing, and cast care/removal.
Laboratory & Diagnostic Support
Collect and label specimens including urine, throat, stool, wound, and blood samples.
Perform venipuncture and pediatric blood draws.
Conduct point-of-care testing including glucose monitoring, urinalysis, and rapid strep testing.
Review and communicate laboratory results as directed.
Administrative Duties
Manage patient refill requests and pharmacy communications.
Conduct follow-up phone calls and telephone triage.
Assist with insurance verification when needed.
Document patient information accurately in Epic EMR.
Required Qualifications
Minimum 1 year of outpatient Medical Assistant experience
Pediatric experience required
Medical Assistant Diploma from an accredited program
High School Diploma or GED
Current BLS Certification (AHA or ARC)
Proficiency with Epic EMR
Experience with:
Well-child checks
Pediatric immunizations
Pediatric blood draws
Developmental milestone assessments
Childhood illnesses and injuries
Preferred Qualifications
Certified Medical Assistant (CMA)
Experience in a pediatric outpatient clinic or physician practice
Insurance verification experience
Additional Information
No weekend requirement
Float to other Huntington Health Physician clinics in Pasadena and Arcadia as needed
