Schedule: Day Shift. 40 hours weekly. 8:00am - 5:00pm (Monday-Friday)
Employee must be able to work effectively within an interdisciplinary team model, interfacing and collaborating with a wide range of clinical and social services disciplines who work together to manage the PACE participants' care. Some travel throughout service area.
About the Position:
Under the direction and supervision of the Clinical Manager, assists with participant procedures needed for the Reid Health PACE program while ensuring effective and efficient clinic throughput and daily clinic operations. This individual works hand in hand with PACE Providers and Clinic RN to achieve quality outcomes for the participant. Provides instrumental activities of daily living to participants across care settings. Communicates participant's condition to primary caregivers, providers, and the interdisciplinary team. Accepts other duties as assigned by the Clinical Manager and within the scope of practice.
Overview of Responsibilities
Prepares exam rooms for participant use by cleaning the rooms between participants and ensuring that each room is stocked with the appropriate supplies. Prepares procedure trays as necessary.
Escorts participants to exam rooms and checks vital signs as needed. Interviews participants to assess needs. Records reason(s) for visit, current medications, and take temperature if necessary. Instructs participants on how to prepare for provider's examination. Ensures chart documentation is completed in a timely manner and in accordance with practice policy and procedure.
Performs lab tests in accordance with needs of participant and as directed by the Provider. Prepares specimens for in-house and reference labs as appropriate. Operates and calibrates laboratory equipment. Maintains laboratory and laboratory documentation in accordance with CLIA standards and practice specific protocol.
Schedules offsite diagnostic tests and referrals to other providers, as approved by PACE team. Records procedures ordered and tracks results.

Performs prior authorizations and pre-certifications when appropriate.
Maintains participants' medical record and fulfills Reid Health PACE charting and reporting requirements.
Observes, records, and reports participant's condition and reaction to drugs and treatments to Providers.
Triages participants within scope of practice to determine priority of care.
Instructs and educates participants and family on medication and treatment instructions.
Participates in administering participant vaccinations and TB testing. Documents and records appropriately.
Prepares equipment and aids providers during treatment, examination, and testing of participants.
Assists other staff in clinic during daily appointments and emergencies.
Maintains timely flow of participants.
Maintains supply inventory for clinic needs.
Effectively communicates in clinic meetings or any other meetings as assigned.
Assists in the scheduling of specialist appointments and inpatient admissions including calling report to the specified unit, as assigned, or requested.
Provides support to participants across all care settings.
Monitors operational compliance with OSHA regulations, Infection Control protocol, and agency policies and procedures.
Participates in and supports Quality Improvement initiatives.
Participates in continuing education classes, staff meetings and any required trainings. Maintains professional affiliations and any required certifications.

Education & Experience
Education Required: Successful completion of a Medical Assisting course or EMT certification will be considered for MA I position. Those who hold completion of Registered Medical Assistant or Certified Medical Assistant (RMA, CMA, CCMA) will be considered for MA II position.
Education Preferred: Associate degree
Experience Preferred: One year experience in a medical practice
Other: Applicant with at least 12 months clinical experience as an NCA/CNA/PCT may complete the NCA to MA onboarding program to obtain job title of MA I within the organization.
