As a Medical Assistant, you will administer and coordinate medical services necessary while creating a positive patient experience within the facility. You will be responsible for performing routine administrative and clinical responsibilities. 

Pay Range: 

$18 to $22 per hour

Requirements:

  • Minimum High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Must possess a current medical assistant certificate or emergency medical technician certificate from an accredited teaching school and/or provide transcripts.
  • Experience as a medical assistant.
  • Must maintain continuing education credits as required by the state employed
  • Ability to administer medications.
  • Localized travel up to 5% may be required

    Preferred

    • Graduation of a post-secondary medical assisting education program accredited by an agency recognized by the U.S. Department of Education. Current certification from the Certifying Board of the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA), or registration from the American Medical Technologists (AMT), or the National Center for Competency Training (NCCT), or any recognized certifying body approved by the Board.
    • CNA (Certified Nursing Assistant), RMA (Registered Medical Assistant).
    • Two (2) years’ experience or knowledge in the field of behavioral health recommended.
    • Experience performing blood draws
    • CPR (Cardiopulmonary resuscitation) certification.

    Responsibilities:

    • Works as part of the intake team to ensure patients are seen promptly.  
    • Observe urine samples for urine drug screens, test onsite and package for laboratory confirmation testing.  
    • Obtain vital signs and report findings to nurses when needed.  
    • Obtain blood samples for standard blood testing onsite and package for the laboratory  
    • Communicate all relevant information to the leadership team regarding patients and the facility. 
    • Make appointments for patients to see physicians, counselors, and case managers, and provide lab work and referrals for additional follow-up care.  
    • May be responsible for cash collection and daily balancing.  
    • May be responsible for managing accounts receivable/accounts payable/ deposits.  
    • Maintain security by following procedures, monitoring logbooks, checking in visitors, etc.  
    • May be responsible for coordinating appointments for patients.  
    • May be responsible for running the PDMP for all patients as well as recording patient information at intake in the Central Registry for that State  
    • Maintain and keep updated all medical records and documentation pertaining to the patients in the EHR as well as in any lab required software programs  
    • May be responsible for dropping off lab work at a UPS drop off location if the driver does not come in to pick up that day 
    • May be responsible for dropping deposits off at the local bank. Assists with Purchasing and ordering of medical supplies 
    • Assists in education with pregnant patients about prenatal care and assists primary counselor in coordinating outside services as needed. 
    • Attend team meetings and complete all training courses timely as required. 
    • Other duties as assigned.
