Job Summary
Provides general medical care under the direction of a licensed provider to patients in an outpatient clinic setting.  Clinical role focusing on front desk protocols, triage, and medical assisting.
Responsibilities - Medical Assisting
  • Front desk protocols and patient satisfaction.  
  • Experience understanding patient insurance intake and processing. 
  • Obtain patient vitals, medical history, and reason for visit, and prepare the patient for a physical exam 
  • Explain prescribed procedures and treatments to patients
  • Ensure all ordered tests are performed accurately and in a timely manner
  • Administer prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with the approved procedure
  • Draw blood and preparation labs for reference lab processing and/or in-house processing 
  • Perform laboratory tests, lab-quality controls, and equipment maintenance according to written instructions
  • Respond to all lab messages and call back requests
  • Perform all drug screening procedures in accordance with established rules and regulations
  • Ensure patient immunizations are well documented and administered in accordance with the approved procedure
  • Conduct physician referrals as well as service pre-certifications on an as-needed basis
  • Prepare exam rooms; sterilize instruments, equipment, and supplies for procedures
  • Maintain complete and accurate documentation
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned
Responsibilities - Cross Trained Medical Receptionist 
  • Prepare the clinic for opening each day by reviewing the facility, opening all systems applications, and preparing new patient registration packets and required documents
  • Greet patients, provide patients with initial paperwork and obtain copies of insurance and identification cards
  • Register patients, update patient records, verify insurance accurately and timely, and check patients out 
  • Determine, collect, and process patient payments and address collection and billing issues
  • Respond promptly to customer needs, provide excellent customer service, assist patients with follow-up appointments, and fulfill medical documentation requests
  • Balance daily patient charges (cash, check, credit cards) against system reports
  • Complete closing procedures by preparing closing documentation and submitting required reports
  • Complete cash control procedures and secure financial assets
  • Maintain complete and accurate documentation
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned
Qualifications
Previous medical clerical experience preferred. Basic computer knowledge, e.g., Microsoft Office. Accuracy and detail orientation. Positive customer service skills. Well-groomed appearance.  Clear and articulate phone mannerisms.  Associates degree (A.A.) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school; or six months to one-year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. AMT registered and AAMA Certified Medical Assistants are preferred. Experience using Experity EMR is a plus! DOT Trained a plus!
