Medical Assistant/X-Ray role performs administrative and clinical duties under the direct supervision of a medical provider - physician, physician assistant or nurse practitioner - in the medical office setting. This role works closely with the physician in the office clinical setting, assists with direct patient care, and serves as the clinical liaison between physician and patient and between physician and the office staff and offers the added skill of providing the radiology function. The incumbent is responsible for promoting communications among all care providers, patients, and office staff regarding the care plan for the patient as defined by the attending physician. The individual attends to patients utilizing the age appropriate principles of growth and development for patients of all ages according to the practice.

  • Performs x-rays and documents according to department protocol. Forwards for over-reads if appropriate. Process for specialist when appropriate. Maintains a current radiology license.
  • Verify that all lab results, diagnostic reports, and specialty reports from in-house or reference labs and other medical providers are received back on patients and given to physician for review; ensure all reports are in the electronic medical record prior to patient appointment
  • Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to any age-related needs of the patients served in the assigned practice. These skills include: age-appropriate communication skills, safety needs, patient teaching, medication administration, physical/functional growth and development, nutritional needs and psychosocial development.
  • Administers and documents medications and collects lab samples as ordered. Prepares patient for exam and procedures and assists provider as needed.
  • Obtain patient history, reason for visit, measure vital signs and record information accurately in the electronic medical record.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Graduate of a medical assistant program (or) one year as a Medical Assistant

  • One of: LXMO or LXMOT or RAD or RADT - Must obtain RAD within 6 months of hire if currently hold RADT.

Desired:

  • One year as a Medical Assistant

  • Bachelor's degree Radiologic Technology

  • Certified Medical Assistant
