Job Description:

SUMMARY

Responsible for conducting Medical Record reviews monthly to identify provider coding and documentation inaccuracies. Responsible for the identification and performing of training opportunities based on provider inaccuracies.

Education and/or experience

• CPC or CPMA (Medical Auditing Certification) from accredited source (American Health Information Management Association, American Academy of Professional Coders, or Practice Management Institute)
• At least 5 years of experience relevant to ICD-10 coding or medical record audit experience
• Experience developing educational materials and delivering trainings related to ICD-10 coding

Essential Functions

• Collects and analyzes data to formulate recommendations and solutions based on audit trends and results.
• Provides regular feedback to leadership on performance improvement opportunities as a result of performance gaps.
• Acts as an expert on medical records auditing to internal staff
• Participates in and represents the department in business leadership groups, including external professional groups specializing in coding and provider education.
• Attends training events to stay up to date on regulation and the latest revisions to documentation and coding systems.
• Advises management on developing more effective policies and procedures regarding medical coding or billing issues.
• Trains medical or coding staff to understand and to apply coding and billing policies, laws and regulations which may require some travel to other PATHS offices.
• Other projects and/or duties as required
