Full-time Medical Coders (IRF and BH) | Sherman, TX

Behavioral Health hospital is hiring 2 full-time professional Medical Coders of 2 years, proficient in IRF (Inpatient Rehabilitation Facility) and BH (Behavioral Health, Pediatric) to join our team onsite in Sherman, TX. Designed for dedicated coders looking to contribute to healthcare quality and compliance through accurate coding practices.

Starts in 1 to 2 weeks with immediate benefits

RATE $23.08/hr - $28/hr | Granted based on experience

SCHEDULE Monday to Friday, 8a - 5p

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  1. One Medical Coder of 2+ years, proficient in IRF (Inpatient Rehabilitation Facility) to know specific coding guidelines and regulations that govern Rehab Services.
  2. One Medical Coder of 2 years proficient in BH (Behavioral Health (Pediatric - Inpatient) PHP/IOP (intensive outpatient program).
  3. 2 or more years of medical coding experience - REQUIRED
  4. Strong knowledge of ICD-10-PCS, CPT/HCPCS coding, and discharge analysis is essential to support quality metrics and compliance programs.
  5. Experience with MEDHOST software.
  6. 2 years in HIM (Health Information Management) coding OR completion of HIM education program preferred.

Job Responsibilities

  • ICD-10-CM Coding: Accurately assign diagnosis and procedure codes for inpatient and outpatient records under the supervision of the HIM Manager.
  • Abstracting Records: Extract relevant information from medical records to ensure proper coding and billing.
  • CPT/HCPCS Coding: Familiarity with Current Procedural Terminology (CPT) and Healthcare Common Procedure Coding System (HCPCS) is essential for coding various medical procedures.
  • Discharge Analysis: Conduct analysis of discharge records to ensure compliance with coding standards and quality metrics.
  • Collaborate with healthcare providers to clarify documentation & ensure accurate coding.
  • Statistical Reporting: Assist in compiling statistical reports and maintaining records.
  • Quality Assurance: Participate in quality improvement initiatives related to coding & documentation.
  • Maintain accurate medical records crucial for patient care, HIPAA, and reimbursement processes.
