About the Opportunity

Kalamazoo Valley is seeking a full-time Program Support Specialist for our Medical Culinary Program. This person will support technical aspects of the Community Kitchen. This will include interaction with the Culinary and Allied Health staff and faculty, and the training and supervision of lab assistants employed for community programs. The person in this position will also prepare all food requisitions, manage inventory and engage in kitchen upkeep and organization. In addition, our chosen candidate will also create recipes for community programs, run nutrient analysis and develop program content.

Essential Job Functions

  • Prepares all food requisitions, conducts inventory management and engages in kitchen upkeep and organization.
  • Serves as a liaison between program staff, contractors, departments and the community on kitchen related training and other initiatives.
  • Oversees culinary assistants supporting community programs.
  • Works with chefs, instructors and staff to develop and execute a kitchen management outline for each virtual or in person community class or program, including recipe development/nalization, food requisitions, stang requisitions, equipment layout, food distribution and food preparation.
  • Serves as a subject matter expert assisting with culinary, nutrition and food safety education during community classes and for in person and virtual events.
  • Schedules meetings, events, appointments and drafts accounting entries and internal reports or other class materials.
  • Assists with project research and development and execution of program goals, objectives and materials, as well as special projects.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Knowledge of effective customer service principles.
  • Knowledge of nutrition principles.
  • Skill in effective verbal and written communication.
  • Ability to identify and resolve problems in a timely manner.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other personnel and the public.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Appropriate combination of education and experience is required. An example of this would be an associate degree and three (3) years of related experience, or equivalent combination of training, education and experience.
  • ServSafe, Alcohol, Allergen and Manager certifications are required (or the ability to obtain upon employment).

Preferred Qualifications and Experience: Physical Demands:

  • The work is medium work which requires exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 30 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
  • Work is performed in a a relatively safe and secure work environment.
  • Candidates must have the ability to travel among campuses at Kalamazoo Valley is expected

Work Hours: Core hours are Monday-Friday 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. but hours are adjusted to support programming including some nights and weekends. Posting Date 08/18/2026 Closing Date: Special Instructions to Applicants:
