Medical Director (DVM) – Alamogordo, NM

 

An established small animal practice is seeking a Medical Director to lead its clinical team while continuing to practice high-quality veterinary medicine. This role combines hands-on patient care with medical leadership responsibilities, offering the opportunity to guide clinical standards, mentor fellow veterinarians, and contribute to the continued growth and success of the hospital. The ideal candidate values collaboration, accountability, and excellence in patient care.

 

Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive medical and surgical care to small animal patients

  • Oversee clinical standards and ensure quality patient outcomes

  • Mentor and support associate veterinarians and clinical team members

  • Develop and maintain medical protocols and standard operating procedures

  • Partner with hospital leadership to align medical and operational goals

  • Foster a positive, team-oriented culture

  • Maintain accurate medical records and ensure regulatory compliance

 

Qualifications

  • Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM/VMD) or equivalent degree

  • Active veterinary license (or ability to obtain licensure)

  • Strong clinical and surgical proficiency

  • Demonstrated leadership or supervisory experience preferred

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

  • Commitment to high standards of care and team development
