Medical Director of Pediatric Cardiac Anesthesia

The Department of Cardiovascular Services at Nemours Children's Hospital, Florida , is seeking a Medical Director of Pediatric Cardiac Anesthesia to guide services in Jacksonville and Orlando. The ideal candidate will provide the visionary force, strategic direction, and management of a clinical department in collaboration with the Director of the Nemours Cardiac Center, Florida and in harmony with the Nemours mission and strategic goals. This leader will be instrumental in continuing to build the Cardiac Anesthesia Program which includes contributing to the development and implementation of strategic plans, ensuring all policies, programs and initiatives are consistent and supportive of the department's mission, vision, and values.

This physician leader will inspire and exemplify Nemours standards of behavior and facilitate collaboration and teamwork across the Department of Cardiovascular Services, Nemours Children's Hospital, Nemours clinical divisions, and hospital partners within the state of Florida to ensure the highest quality of care.

The successful candidate will possess a MD/DO or equivalent degree, ABA board certification with subspecialty certification in pediatric anesthesia plus experience and/or additional training in pediatric cardiac anesthesia, possess or be eligible for an unrestricted Florida medical license, and academic leadership experience and accomplishments commensurate with process qualifications for a University of Central Florida College of Medicine faculty appointment at the level of Associate Professor or Professor.

• The Director, Cardiac Anesthesia and Associate Director, Nemours Cardiac Center, who reports to the Director, Nemours Cardiac Center-Florida and Chair, Department of Cardiovascular Surgery, is responsible for supporting the academic, clinical, research and administrative activities relative to the pediatric cardiac anesthesia service provided in support of the mission and strategic direction of the Nemours Cardiac Center.

Our cardiac center offers a full spectrum of services, including fetal cardiology, pediatric and adult congenital cardiology, interventional cardiology, electrophysiology, heart failure management, and complex cardiac surgery. The surgical program performs more than 125 pediatric heart surgeries annually, encompassing a wide range of procedures from neonatal repairs to single-ventricle and complex congenital cases. Outcomes are rigorously tracked and benchmarked against national standards, reflecting the center's commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement.

Our center is distinguished by its advanced imaging and diagnostic capabilities, including 3D echocardiography, cardiac MRI, cardiac CT, and ICAEL-accredited echocardiography laboratories. Research is an integral component of the cardiac center, with a dedicated Cardiovascular Services Research Department supporting basic, translational, and clinical investigations. Projects focus on epigenetics, AI and data analytics, imaging innovation, and neurodevelopmental outcomes, ensuring that clinical practice is informed by the latest scientific evidence. The program maintains a CAP-accredited biobank of cardiac specimens and participates in national registries and research networks, advancing knowledge in congenital heart disease.
