Position: Medical Laboratory Technician

Location: Lewiston, ME

Department: Laboratory

Shifts Available: Days 

Pay: up to $1,399–$1,847 gross per week

Responsibilities:

Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) performs waived, moderate, and high-complexity testing in accordance with CLIA regulations while ensuring accurate and compliant laboratory operations.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform laboratory testing in Hematology, Chemistry, Urinalysis, Coagulation, Microbiology, and Immunology.
  • Collect, process, analyze, and report patient specimens and test results.
  • Review and verify test results prior to release.
  • Perform quality control, troubleshoot testing issues, and document corrective actions.
  • Complete routine maintenance on laboratory instruments and equipment.
  • Recognize age-specific variations in patient results from newborns to geriatrics.
  • Perform venipuncture and capillary collections as needed.
  • Assist in maintaining laboratory policies, procedures, and regulatory compliance.
  • Adhere to safety, infection control, and hospital policies.
  • Serve as Lead Tech in the absence of a supervisor and perform other duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications:

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, TRAINING

 

1. Current and Valid State License if the laboratory is located in a state where required.

2. ASCP certification, or equivalent, required.

3. Associates Degree in chemical, physical, biological science, or completion of coursework in a program for MLT.

4. Minimum 1 year of hospital laboratory work experience required.

Pay Transparency:

Premiere Healthcare Staffing offers competitive compensation and a reasonable compensation estimate for this role is $34.99 to $46.18. This compensation estimate is specific to Maine and has not been adjusted for any other geographic location. The exact starting compensation to be offered will be determined at the time of selecting an applicant for hire, in which a wide range of factors will be considered, including but not limited to, skillset, years of applicable experience, education, credentials and licensure.
