    The Department of Radiation Oncology of the University of Washington (UW) School of Medicine, invites applications for a position as a staff Medical Physicist Located in Poulsbo Washington.

    About this Opportunity

    The successful candidate will contribute to the clinical mission of the department in a vibrant group that includes 34 faculty medical physicists, 3 staff medical physicists, 40 physicians, 12 Advanced Practice Providers, and 15 residents in radiation oncology and medical physics. The medical physicist will report to the Director of Medical Physics in Radiation Oncology with clinical service primarily at the site of practice at Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center (FHCC) Peninsula in Poulsbo, WA.     Key Responsibilities

    This practice treats approximately 30 patients per day on one linear accelerator as well as a brachytherapy service for prostate implants.

    Primary responsibilities of the current position are to support the planning and delivery of radiotherapy including external beam, brachytherapy, treatment planning, dosimetry, treatment verification, quality assurance, staff training and consults with other providers and patients.

    Specific duties include

    • Quality assurance of linear accelerators (20%),
    • Imaging equipment and brachytherapy equipment (10%),
    • Brachytherapy procedures (10%),
    • plan and chart review (30%),
    • routine clinical support (20%), and
    • commissioning, maintaining, and improving equipment (10%).

    The Medical Physicist must work in a team environment in support of radiotherapy resources of the department.

    Required Qualifications

    qualifications listed below. Equivalent education and/or experience may substitute for
    minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license,
    certification, and/or registration.

    Minimum Requirements

    • Master's degree in medical physics or related field
    • 2 years' clinical experience
    • Board Certified or Board eligibility in therapeutic radiological physics by the American Board of Radiology or equivalent.

    Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license/certification/registration.

    Desired:

    The successful candidate will have excellent clinical medical physics skills, a commitment to safety and quality, and a willingness to take ownership of professional service.

    The candidate will have excellent teamwork and communication skills and the ability to explain complex problems to other professionals on the team.

    Compensation, Benefits and Position Details

    Pay Range Minimum:

    $114,000.00 annual

    Pay Range Maximum:

    $240,000.00 annual
