About the Role:
Hess Spine and Orthopedics LLC is looking for a detail-oriented Medical Records Coordinator to join our growing team in Fairfield, NJ. This is a vital role that keeps our practice running smoothly by ensuring accurate, timely, and compliant management of patient health information. Responsibilities:
- Manage the collection, organization, and maintenance of patient medical records in compliance with HIPAA regulations
- Process medical records requests from patients, attorneys, insurance carriers, and other healthcare providers
- Accurately enter and update patient data within the Electronic Health Record (EHR) system
- Coordinate release of information (ROI) requests while ensuring proper authorizations are obtained
- Audit medical records for completeness, accuracy, and compliance with regulatory standards
- Collaborate with clinical and administrative staff to ensure timely documentation and record retrieval
- Maintain confidentiality and security of all patient health information at all times
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; associate's degree in Health Information Management or related field preferred
- 1-2 years of experience in medical records, health information management, or medical office administration
- Working knowledge of HIPAA regulations and release of information protocols
- Proficiency with Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems and Microsoft Office Suite
- Strong attention to detail with excellent organizational and time management skills
- Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion and professionalism
- Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment
