Medical Services Assistant

Must be a Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or have three years of experience working with a mental health population. Responsibilities include participating in the client treatment regimen, including medication orders and monitoring. Maintains compliance with state regulations and all reporting procedures. Participates in and ensures HIPAA compliance regarding the privacy of medical records. This job description may not include all assigned duties, responsibilities, or aspects of the job described.

Scope of Duties:• 1. Interact verbally and nonverbally with all clients, staff, and outside contacts professionally with respect and courtesy.• 2. Maintain client and staff confidentiality in compliance with administrative policies and procedures.• 3. Attend and participate in regularly scheduled staff meetings, supervisory conferences, training sessions, and meetings as required. Coordinate and review all assessments for BH Services related to clients' physical and medical status in a confidential manner.• 5. The Medical Nursing Assistant is required to complete weekly medication audits to ensure accuracy and report any discrepancies to the Nursing Director. • 6. Will work with the treatment team to provide a consistently therapeutic milieu.• 7. Review all medical consults and physicals, alerting the Nursing Director of any issues/concerns.• 8. Refer clients to any medical appointments deemed necessary.• 9. Participate in ongoing training for staff and clients on prescribed medication/medical signs, symptoms, side effects, and other relevant issues for this population.• 10. Establish and maintain medical files and histories for each resident and update them annually.• 11. Responsible for the monitoring of clients' self-administration of medications.• 12. Assist agency staff in setting self-administration of medications goals for each resident.• 13. Inform the Nursing Director of medication errors.• 14. Act as agency liaison with pharmacy provider.• 15. Participate in required annual trainings.• 16. Work closely with Nursing Director on ensuring that the Information Technology Department assists with and updates privacy policies to meet HIPAA.• 17. Other duties as assigned.
