Job Title: Medical Support Assistant (MSA)

Location: Hampton VA Medical Center & Hampton Roads VA Clinics – Hampton, VA

Employment Type: Full-Time

Schedule:

• Monday–Friday
• 8-hour shifts
• Available schedules:
  • 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM
  • 7:30 AM – 4:00 PM
  • 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM
• No weekends or on-call.

Job Summary

ASA Healthcare Staffing is seeking professional Medical Support Assistants to support the Hampton VA Healthcare System. This position provides administrative and patient support services within VA outpatient clinics, patient call centers, and administrative departments.

Responsibilities

• Schedule, cancel, and reschedule patient appointments
• Answer phones and provide excellent customer service
• Register and greet Veterans
• Maintain accurate electronic medical records
• Scan medical documents into the EMR
• Process consults and referrals
• Coordinate community care appointments
• Support eligibility, enrollment, and travel reimbursement functions
• Perform general administrative and clerical duties

Minimum Qualifications

• U.S. Citizen
• High school diploma or equivalent (additional education may substitute for experience)
• At least 6 months of clerical, administrative, customer service, or medical office experience
• Typing speed of approximately 40 WPM
• Strong computer skills
• Excellent communication and customer service skills
• Ability to obtain a VA background investigation, fingerprinting, and security clearance

Preferred

• Medical office or healthcare administrative experience
• Experience with EMR systems
• VA or hospital scheduling experience
