Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Medical Technology, Medical Laboratory Science, or a related laboratory science field.
Current Medical Technologist or Medical Laboratory Scientist certification from one of the following:
ASCP
AMT
AAB
NCA
Equivalent nationally recognized certification
Hematology experience is preferred.
Strong knowledge of laboratory procedures, quality control, and clinical testing standards.
Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
Ability to work on an as-needed basis and be available to cover employee absences and scheduled time off.
Responsibilities
Perform routine and specialized laboratory testing according to established policies and procedures.
Verify specimen integrity, patient demographics, and testing orders prior to processing.
Analyze test results, recognize abnormal findings, and perform appropriate troubleshooting when necessary.
Ensure accurate specimen collection, handling, and processing.
Perform quality control procedures on laboratory equipment and testing processes.
Enter patient demographics and laboratory results into the laboratory information system.
Respond promptly to STAT and emergency testing requests while meeting turnaround time expectations.
Assist with troubleshooting specimen issues and support team workflow as needed.
Maintain laboratory inventory and ensure adequate testing supplies are available.
Communicate quality control concerns and unusual findings to laboratory leadership.
Maintain accurate documentation and comply with all laboratory quality and safety standards.
