Medical Technologist

A Medical Technologist is needed at a 190-bed acute care hospital and emergency room in Overland Park, KS. The facility is home to a certified Breast Center of Excellence, a Robotic Surgery Center of Excellence, a Women's Center, a Bariatric Program, and an inpatient rehabilitation center.

The role. The Medical Technologist performs waived, moderate complexity, and high complexity testing on blood and body fluids as defined by CLIA 1988, with a focus on Blood Bank. Post-analytic responsibilities include test reporting, result verification, and investigation of technical, instrumental, and physiologic causes of unexpected test results, as well as correlation of abnormal laboratory data with pathologic states to determine validity and whether follow-up testing is warranted. The role also encompasses quality control monitoring, inventory management of supplies and reagents, and maintenance of non-analytic equipment including refrigerators, freezers, and centrifuges. Additionally, this position supports clinical laboratory sciences students through instruction in theory and procedures, and assists with the orientation and training of LTA, CLT, MLT, and MT staff.

What we're looking for.

• Must have bachelor's degree in medical technology or related science, or bachelor's degree and certification in a sub-specialty area, or 'grand-fathered' as a Medical Technologist by CLIA88 is required
• Medical Technologist ASCP, CLS (NCA), or as appropriate, BB(ASCP), C(ASCP), I(ASCP), H(ASCP), or M(ASCP) certification or equivalent is required
• Must have a minimum of 1+ years of recent experience in Blood Bank in a hospital lab environment (will not consider experience that is not acute care)

Schedule. Full-time nights with rotating weekends; weekends-only option available Thursday through Sunday.

Compensation. $29.00 - $41.00/hr
