    Job Description

    A regional laboratory network serving hospitals, physician practices, surgery centers, and commercial clients across Florida is seeking a Medical Technologist to join its Port Charlotte laboratory team. This system includes both hospital-based rapid-response labs and core laboratory operations supporting more than 250 acute care and rehabilitation facilities statewide.

    This role is responsible for performing accurate and timely laboratory testing across multiple clinical disciplines. Work includes analyzing proficiency testing samples within required timeframes, completing stat testing within established turnaround goals, and ensuring reliable reporting of patient results across assigned specialties.

    The Medical Technologist applies independent clinical judgment when reviewing and interpreting patient data, including delta checks and result validation. Responsibilities also include monitoring pending worklists and result queues, coordinating task handoffs when necessary, and maintaining continuity of workflow across shifts. Quality control procedures are performed according to established protocols, and all critical or unusual results are followed through with appropriate documentation and communication.

    This position may assume departmental responsibilities in the absence of supervisory staff and plays an important role in maintaining operational accuracy, efficiency, and compliance within the laboratory environment.

    Qualifications:

    • Associate degree required

    • Bachelor’s degree in Medical Technology or a related field preferred

    • Minimum of 1 year of experience as a Medical Technologist required

    • Current Florida Technologist license required

    • Certification or licensure in one or more clinical laboratory specialties required, with Generalist experience strongly preferred (Blood Bank, Serology, Chemistry, Hematology, or Microbiology)

    Schedule:

    • Full-time
