Universal Stainless & Alloy Products, Inc. is seeking dependable and motivated employees to join our Melt Shop team in Bridgeville, PA. This is a hands-on position in a heavy industrial steel manufacturing environment where employees play an important role in the production of steel ingots.

The ideal candidate is reliable, safety-focused, comfortable working around heavy equipment and hot steel, and willing to work a rotating schedule in a fast-paced production environment.

POSITION OVERVIEW

The Melt Shop position supports the production of steel ingots by preparing raw materials, assisting with pouring and molding operations, moving materials, and maintaining equipment and work areas.

Employees will work around furnaces, molten metal, overhead cranes, forklifts, and other industrial equipment. The position requires strong attention to safety, the ability to follow detailed instructions, physical stamina, and a strong work ethic.

BASIC RESPONSIBILITIES

• Assist operators with the production of steel ingots.
• Prepare raw materials and equipment for production.
• Assist with pouring and molding operations.
• Organize, break down, and rebuild launders using hand and air tools.
• Operate overhead cranes and forklifts/tow motors to move materials.
• Use measuring and inspection tools as required.
• Follow work instructions and production requirements.
• Maintain clean and organized work areas.
• Assist with equipment preparation and changeovers.
• Identify and report equipment or production issues to supervision.
• Follow all safety, quality, and production procedures.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

SAFETY-SENSITIVE POSITION

This is a safety-sensitive position in a heavy industrial environment involving furnaces, molten metal, cranes, forklifts, and other potentially hazardous equipment.

Employees must consistently follow all safety procedures, wear required PPE and maintain awareness of their surroundings and coworkers.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

The Melt Shop is a heavy industrial steel manufacturing environment and may involve exposure to:

• Molten metal and furnaces
• Hot steel and elevated temperatures
• Heavy machinery
• Overhead cranes and forklifts
• Noise and dust
• Hand and air tools
• Moving materials
• Required PPE

EXPERIENCE

• Previous manufacturing, steel mill, warehouse, or heavy industrial experience preferred.
• Previous steel mill or furnace experience preferred.
• Forklift/tow motor experience preferred.
• Overhead crane experience preferred.
• Welding experience is a plus.

EDUCATION/TRAINING

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• On-the-job training will be provided for equipment and department-specific processes.

SCHEDULE

• 12-hour rotating shifts:

• 6:00 AM - 6:00 PM

• 6:00 PM - 6:00 AM

• Melt Shop employees rotate between day and night shifts approximately every two weeks.

• There are no permanently assigned day or night shifts.

• Weekend and holiday work may be required.

• Overtime may be required based on operational needs.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
• Ability to work in a hot environment
• Ability to bend, reach, climb, and work around industrial equipment.
• Ability to occasionally lift up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to safely work around hot steel, furnaces, cranes, and forklifts.
• Ability to wear required PPE for extended periods.
• Ability to perform essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation.

TRAINING & GROWTH

Employees receive hands-on training on Melt Shop equipment, procedures, safety requirements, and production processes. Employees may have opportunities to cross-train on additional equipment and responsibilities as they gain experience.
