MEP Engineer (Flex, California)

Are you an MEP engineer with deep commercial project experience who can step into a high-performing BIM-first team and produce coordinated, code-compliant documentation without missing a beat? Do you work clean in Revit, respond to markups with precision, and understand what it means to model to LOD standards in a multi-discipline environment? One of our California-based clients — ColeBreit Engineering, a prominent women-owned MEP and commissioning firm serving public and private clients across the U.S. West Coast — is looking for a Flex MEP Engineer to integrate into their existing BIM workflows and support commercial projects through all phases of documentation. This is a flexible-schedule remote role with requirements aligned to West Coast time. Apply now!

BetterPros unlocks human potential by offering competitive compensation, flexibility, constant learning and growth, and the opportunity to work anywhere you want with one of our +130 active clients across the United States.

What you'll do

  • Develop and maintain Revit MEP models using ColeBreit's project templates, worksharing protocols, and BIM standards — integrating seamlessly into an established cloud-based workflow.

  • Model elements to LOD 200–250 for design intent and coordination, advancing to LOD 300 for designated equipment, mains, and congested spaces when assigned.

  • Produce coordinated plan sheets using ColeBreit's annotation, tagging, view, and title block standards. Generate schedules, legends, details, and riser/isometric diagrams as assigned.

  • Actively review, execute, and log technical markups using Bluebeam Studio, providing clear markup response logs.

  • Perform routine model clean-ups for transfer back to ColeBreit: resolve Revit warnings, manage worksets, and organize linked files.

  • Participate in mandatory weekly coordination meetings via Microsoft Teams and maintain active, responsive communication throughout project milestones.

  • Work directly within ColeBreit-hosted Autodesk BIM 360 / ACC cloud environments, complying strictly with folder, naming, and worksharing protocols.

  • Deliver documentation on schedule across project phases: SD, DD, Progress CDs, 90% Backcheck, and 100% Final CDs.

What you must have

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Civil, or Architectural Engineering — or equivalent technical background with a strong commercial MEP track record.

  • Advanced English level, both written and spoken — mandatory for team meetings and markup documentation.

  • Proven portfolio of U.S.-based commercial MEP projects completed or substantially advanced within the past 24 months.

  • Advanced proficiency in Revit MEP: drafting, model management, worksharing, and BIM coordination workflows.

  • Experience working in Autodesk BIM 360 / Autodesk Construction Cloud (ACC) environments.

  • Proficiency in Bluebeam and Bluebeam Studio for markup review, tracking, and backcheck.

  • Practical familiarity with U.S. MEP codes and West Coast jurisdictions: IBC, IMC, UPC, IPC, NEC, IFC, NFPA standards, ASHRAE, and California Title 24 (CBC, CMC, CPC, CEC, and Energy Code).

  • Disciplined file management, strict adherence to drawing standards, and ability to meet engineering milestones without follow-up.

A great plus

  • Specific experience on California, Oregon, or Washington projects — with demonstrated familiarity navigating those jurisdictions' code requirements.

  • Experience with Navisworks Manage or Simulate for clash coordination and model review.

  • Knowledge of EnergyPro or equivalent tools for California Title 24 compliance and energy modeling.

  • Familiarity with tools such as HAP, IESVE, COMcheck/REScheck, AGi32, Visual, or ETAP depending on your primary discipline.

  • Discipline-specific depth: HVAC load coordination and mechanical room layouts (Mechanical); fixture schedules and riser/isometric diagrams (Plumbing); panel schedules and one-line diagram support (Electrical); or sprinkler/fire alarm coordination (Fire Protection).

We've got the opportunity, you've got the talent. We want to hear from you! Apply now.
