Baltic Børn is looking for a Merchandising Analyst to own the numbers behind our assortment. This role sits at the center of two things that decide whether a season works: what we charge and mark down, and how much inventory we have in the right places at the right time.
You will live in Inventory Planner by Sage, build the forecasts and replenishment plans that keep our best sellers in stock, and bring a clear point of view on where margin is being made and lost. This is a hands-on analyst role for someone who would rather own a model than manage a team — there are no direct reports, and there is a lot of ownership.
What You'll Own
Pricing & Margin
Own markdown strategy and cadence — identify underperformers early, model the margin impact of markdown scenarios, and execute price changes within established guardrails
Track sell-through by style, category, size, and color, and flag risk and opportunity while there is still time to act on it
Analyze gross margin performance at the SKU and category level, including the effect of promotions, discounting, and full-price sell-through on bottom-line results
Maintain pricing accuracy across the catalog and partner on promotional pricing and event planning
Conduct post-season and post-promotion hindsight analysis, and turn it into recommendations for the next buy
Inventory Management
Ownreplenishment planning and reorder recommendations, placing and adjusting replenishment orders independently within established thresholds
Build and maintain demand forecasts by style and category, incorporating seasonality, launch calendars, and promotional lift
Manage open-to-buy, keeping inventory investment aligned to sales plans and flagging when the buy needs to change
Monitor inventory health — weeks of supply, aged and excess inventory, stockouts and lost sales — and recommend exit strategies for slow movers
Maintain accurate item, cost, and lead-time data in Inventory Planner by Sage so that forecasts and reorder points can be trusted
Partner with operations and vendors on inbound timing, and reforecast when delivery dates move
Reporting & Cross-Functional Partnership
Own a recurring sell-through and inventory health report for senior leadership, with clear risk and opportunity callouts and a recommended action for each
Build and maintain dashboards that make performance visible to the wider team without anyone having to ask for a pull
Partner with marketing and creative on promotional calendar timing, launch support, and inventory-informed campaign planning
Work closely with design and buying on trend and assortment decisions by bringing the data that supports or challenges them
What You Bring
3–5 years of experience in merchandise planning, inventory planning, pricing, or retail analytics — apparel or ecommerce strongly preferred
Demonstrated proficiency with Inventory Planner by Sage — this is a firm requirement for the role, and you should be able to speak in detail about how you have used it for forecasting, replenishment, and purchase order planning
Strong command of retail math: margin, markup, sell-through, weeks of supply, inventory turn, GMROI, and open-to-buy
Advanced Excel or Google Sheets skills, and comfort working with large data sets without losing accuracy
A track record of turning analysis into a recommendation someone acted on — not just reporting the number, but saying what to do about it
Sound judgment operating independently within guardrails, and the instinct to escalate when a decision is above the line
Clear written and verbal communication, including the ability to present findings to senior leadership without jargon
High attention to detail and genuine ownership of data accuracy
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-growth ecommerce environment where priorities shift
Bachelor's degree in business, merchandising, finance, supply chain, or equivalent professional experience
Nice to Have
Experience in women's apparel or a direct-to-consumer brand
Familiarity with Shopify and ecommerce reporting tools
Experience with SQL, Power BI, Looker, or similar BI tools
Exposure to vendor and purchase order management
Experience supporting a buying or merchandising team in a growth-stage business
Benefits
Competitive salary
Comprehensive health, dental, and vision coverage
Generous PTO and paid holidays
Employee discount on Baltic Børn products
