MES Software Engineer 3

Job Description

The MES Software Engineer delivers Manufacturing Execution System (MES) consulting and implementation services for customers, within the Automotive domain. This role partners with customers across the full project lifecycle from requirements gathering and solution design through implementation, deployment, and production support. Customers view the Engineer as a technical consultant, and you will provide high-quality MES solutions on time and within budget.

In addition to hands-on technical delivery, you will contribute to project planning, cost estimation, proposal development, and may support customer presentations and ongoing account activities.

Your Responsibilities
Customer & Project Delivery

• Engage directly with customers to gather requirements and understand manufacturing and business needs
• Design and integrate MES solutions across production environments
• Provide production support, troubleshooting, bug fixing, and performance optimization
• Deliver system testing, deployment, and customer training
• Explore and evaluate new technologies to improve MES solutions and delivery approaches

Technical & Solution Development

• Define system architecture and technical designs for MES implementations
• Develop and integrate MES solutions with enterprise and plant-floor systems
• Support ongoing optimization and enhancements of deployed MES applications

Project & Commercial Responsibilities

• Collaborate with internal project managers and customer partners to monitor scope, cost, and schedule
• Support project cost estimation, proposal generation, and invoicing activities
• Participate in sales and proposal presentations
• Identify additional product and service opportunities within customer organizations

Skills: Typically requires a minimum of 6-8 years of related experience. An experienced professional with a full understanding of area of specialization; resolves wide range of issues in creative ways and effective ways.

Strong experience with:

• FactoryTalk Production Centre (FTPC)
• FactoryTalk Modular Framework (MF)
• MES implementation and customization

Proficiency in:

• Java, C#
• .NET Framework/.NET Core
• SQL Server & T-SQL
• REST/SOAP Web Services
• Git/Azure DevOps

Experience integrating MES with:

• SAP, Infor LN, or other ERP systems
• Kepware, FactoryTalk Live Data
• OPC DA/UA, PLCs, and industrial automation systems

Knowledge of ISA-95, manufacturing operations management, traceability, genealogy, and Automotive manufacturing processes.
Experience with performance tuning, troubleshooting, and production support of enterprise MES applications.
Preferred Industry Experience: Automotive Manufacturing, Smart Manufacturing, Industry 4.0, Manufacturing Operations Management (MOM), and Digital Transformation initiatives.

Education:
Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Automation Engineering, or related field.
