Process and metallurgical support for heavy section mill products.
Responsibilities:
Support daily metallurgical and process control activities within assigned production areas
Investigate and resolve quality and process issues using root cause analysis and statistical methods
Monitor and improve product characteristics including gauge control, surface quality, flatness, and mechanical properties
Assist in developing and optimizing processes, procedures, and equipment performance
Conduct trials, experiments, and data analysis to support product development, process improvements and cost reduction initiatives
Ensure compliance with quality systems, procedures, and product/process controls
Collaborate with operators, maintenance, and support staff to implement sustainable solutions
Participate in continuous improvement and Lean manufacturing initiatives
Prepare technical reports, documentation, and presentations
Provide on-floor coaching and technical guidance to operations teamsSupport operations during off-shift hours or weekends as required in a 24/7 manufacturing environment
Qualifications:
Required
Bachelor’s Degree in Metallurgy, Metallurgical Engineering, Materials Science, or Chemical Engineering from an accredited institution
Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving abilities
Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Preferred
3+ years of related experience or relevant internship/co-op experience
Exposure to heavy industrial or metals manufacturing environments
Experience in aluminum flat-rolled products manufacturing
Lean manufacturing or Six Sigma experience
Advanced data analysis, SPC, or process modeling capabilities
