Meter Technician (Gas/RTU) NY

Position:        Meter Technician (Gas/RTU)

Experience:   Gas utility or plumbing experience preferred but not required

Location:        Tarrytown, NY area (Warehouse/Training location: 50 Prospect Ave, Tarrytown, NY)

Shift:               Mon – Fri, 7-4pm

Pay Rate:       $22 per hour

                        ** .50 cent raise after 60 days and 180 days

What You Will Do:

Southern Cross has immediate openings for Meter Technician (Gas/RTU) in Tarrytown, NY and surrounding areas.  You will be responsible for the replacement of gas modules to include driving daily as required by assigned geographic areas. You will also be expected to process the required data accurately and meet all required completion dates. We will provide step-by-step training to ensure you are comfortable with the process and have a solid understanding of work expectations.

Responsibilities include:

-       ​Manage daily assigned tasks for safety, quality, and efficiency to exceed customer expectations

-       Follow all safety rules, organizational policies, and procedures

-       Interact with the public, client’s customers, and client’s personnel professionally, respectfully, and cordially

-       Protect, inspect, and maintain assigned equipment and vehicle

Education and Experience:

-       Technical aptitude and past/former technical training are a plus

-       Computer or Smart Phone literate

-       Able to read maps and navigate congested areas in large cities

Requirements:

-       Pass all Operator Qualification training/testing pertaining to meter work/meter reading to proceed with employment

-       High school diploma or GED

-       Must have a good driving record and hold a valid driver’s license
