POSITION

SUMMARY

The

Middle

School

Spanish

Teacher

provides

high-quality,

standards-aligned

Spanish

language

instruction

designed

to

develop

students'

proficiency

in

listening,

speaking,

reading,

and

writing

while

fostering

cultural

and

intercultural

understanding.

The

teacher

plans

and

delivers

engaging,

developmentally

appropriate

instruction

across

multiple

grade

levels

and

uses

formative

and

summative

assessment

data

to

monitor

student

learning

and

inform

instruction.

As

the

District

continues

to

develop

and

strengthen

its

middle

school

World

Language

program,

the

teacher

will

collaborate

with

District

and

school

leadership

to

support

the

development,

alignment,

implementation,

and

continuous

improvement

of

a

comprehensive

Spanish

curriculum.

This

work

may

include

developing

a

coherent

scope

and

sequence,

identifying

priority

standards

and

learning

outcomes,

developing

common

instructional

resources

and

assessments,

reviewing

and

recommending

high-quality

curricular

materials,

and

helping

establish

a

vertically

aligned

Spanish

program

consistent

with

the

Illinois

World-Readiness

Standards

for

Learning

Languages,

District

goals,

and

instructional

expectations.

instruction.

Provides

authentic

opportunities

Spanish

and

pronunciation,

vocabulary,

meaningful

Supports

Assists

in

identifying

and/or

developing

high-quality

instructional

materials,

units,

lessons,

pacing

guidance,

resources,

assessments

aligned

learning

and

District

instructional

expectations.

Participates

in

the

review

of

potential

Spanish/World

Language

curricular

resources

and

provides

recommendations

based

on

standards

alignment,

instructional

quality,

cultural

relevance,

accessibility,

student

needs,

and

evidence

of

effectiveness.

Develops

and

administers

formative

and

summative

assessments

to

measure

student

language

proficiency,

monitor

progress,

and

provide

evidence

of

student

learning.

Analyzes

student

performance

data

and

other

evidence

of

learning

to

identify

strengths,

patterns,

and

areas

of

need;

adjusts

instruction

and

recommends

curricular

improvements

accordingly.

Differentiates

and

scaffolds

instruction

to

address

diverse

learner

needs,

including

students

with

disabilities,

multilingual

learners,

advanced

learners,

and

students

requiring

additional

academic

support,

as

appropriate.

Develops

short-

and

long-range

instructional

plans

consistent

with

standards,

curriculum

instructional

Uses

instructional

Provides

Language

QUALIFICATIONS

qualifications

Bachelor's

degree

from

an

accredited

institution;

degree

or

significant

coursework

in

Spanish,

World

Language

Education,

Spanish

language/literature,

or

a

related

field

preferred.

Valid

Illinois

Professional

Educator

License

(PEL)

with

an

endorsement/authorization

that

permits

the

teaching

of

Spanish

at

the

assigned

middle

school

grade

levels,

as

required

by

the

Illinois

State

Board

of

Education.

Demonstrated

proficiency

in

Spanish,

including

strong

oral

and

written

communication

skills.

Demonstrated

knowledge

of

standards-based

curriculum

design,

unit

and

lesson

development,

assessment

development,

differentiation,

and

vertical

curriculum

alignment.

Knowledge

of

the

Illinois

World-Readiness

Standards

for

Learning

Languages

and

proficiency-oriented

World

Language

instruction.

Prior

experience

supporting

curriculum

development,

curriculum

implementation,

or

World

Language

program

development

preferred.

Ability

to

analyze

student

learning

data

and

use

evidence

to

inform

instruction,

intervention,

enrichment,

and

curricular

improvement.

Ability

to

collaborate

effectively

with

District

and

school

leaders,

colleagues,
