Midlevel Real Estate Associate, Commercial Leasing

Ana Bird Legal Search is partnering with a sophisticated Chicago-based law firm seeking a Midlevel Real Estate Associate with 3 to 5 years of substantive commercial real estate experience, particularly sophisticated commercial leasing.

This opportunity offers meaningful transactional responsibility, direct collaboration with experienced real estate attorneys, and work involving institutional owners, developers, landlords, and tenants. The firm offers a flexible hybrid schedule and an annual billable target of 1,800 hours.

Responsibilities

• Draft, review, and negotiate sophisticated commercial leases and related agreements.
• Represent landlords and tenants in office, industrial, and retail leasing transactions.
• Advise institutional owners, REITs, property managers, and commercial real estate users.
• Manage leasing transactions, negotiations, documentation, and closing matters.
• Address related commercial real estate issues and provide practical client guidance.
• Collaborate directly with partners, clients, and other legal professionals.

Qualifications

• 3 to 5 years of substantive commercial real estate transactional experience.
• Meaningful experience with both landlord-side and tenant-side commercial leasing.
• Experience with office, industrial, or retail properties and institutional real estate clients.
• Strong lease drafting, negotiation, transaction management, and legal writing skills.
• Ability to manage transactions with limited supervision.
• J.D. and active bar admission in good standing.
