    This role offers the opportunity to practice at the top of your license while collaborating closely with OB/GYN physicians, nursing staff, and interdisciplinary teams to deliver safe, evidence-based care. You will play a key role in supporting patients throughout pregnancy and beyond, building meaningful relationships while ensuring continuity and quality of care.

    Responsibilities

    Clinical Care

    • Provide full-scope midwifery care within approved scope of practice.
    • Obtain complete medical histories and perform comprehensive physical exams.
    • Manage prenatal, labor and delivery, postpartum, and gynecologic care.
    • Assess, diagnose, and manage low-risk pregnancies independently.
    • Collaborate with physicians on high-risk or complex cases.
    • Order and interpret laboratory and diagnostic studies.
    • Develop and implement evidence-based care plans.
    • Administer medications and treatments in accordance with licensure and prescriptive authority.
    • Provide continuity of care across clinic, hospital, and follow-up settings.

    Patient Education & Support

    • Counsel patients and families on pregnancy, childbirth, postpartum recovery, and women's health.
    • Promote preventive care, breastfeeding support, and wellness education.
    • Support informed decision-making and individualized birth planning.
    • Connect patients with community resources to support care needs.
    • Serve as a trusted advocate and compassionate presence for patients and families.

    Care Coordination & Collaboration

    • Collaborate with OB/GYN physicians and interdisciplinary care teams.
    • Participate in care conferences and support coordinated care planning.
    • Assist with referrals and ensure effective transitions of care.
    • Provide monitoring and continuity of care between visits.
    • Communicate with physicians and care team members to ensure quality and timeliness of services.

    Documentation & Quality

    • Maintain accurate and timely documentation, coding, and billing.
    • Review patient records, testing, and outcomes to support care planning.
    • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and outcome monitoring.
    • Assist in the development of clinical protocols, workflows, and programs.
    • Support compliance with clinical standards, safety expectations, and regulatory requirements.

    Programs, Education & Organizational Support

    • Participate in patient education programs and follow-up initiatives.
    • Maintain required records, reports, and statistical data.
    • Assist in interdisciplinary education, including students, residents, and other pre-professionals.
    • Support development and coordination of programs designed to improve patient outcomes.
    • Perform other job-related assignments and special projects as directed.

    Professional Responsibilities

    • Maintain active RN licensure and Certified Nurse Midwife certification in good standing.
    • Obtain and maintain prescriptive authority within the required timeframe.
    • Participate in ongoing education, certification, and professional development.
    • Maintain affiliation with professional and community organizations as appropriate.
    • Adhere to clinical standards, policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
    • Participate in quality review and performance improvement activities.
    • Demonstrate professionalism, accountability, and effective communication in all interactions.

    Organizational Expectations

    • Attend and participate in department meetings and remain accountable for information shared.
    • Complete mandatory education, annual competencies, and department-specific education within established timeframes.
    • Complete annual employee health requirements within established timeframes.
    • Maintain current BLS/CPR and other certifications as required by position or department.
    • Consistently follow universal precautions, infection prevention standards, protective equipment requirements, and ergonomic techniques.
    • Adhere to regulatory agency requirements, survey processes, compliance expectations, and organization/department policies.
    • Demonstrate flexibility with staffing needs, including schedule adjustments, overtime, or additional shifts when required.

    Education & Experience

    • Graduate of an accredited Nurse Midwifery program.
    • Current RN license and Certified Nurse Midwife certification required.
    • Prescriptive authority required, or eligibility to obtain within the required timeframe.
    • Prior clinical experience in women's health or obstetrics preferred.
    • New graduates with strong training and commitment to midwifery care may be considered.
    • Strong clinical judgment, communication skills, and patient-centered care approach required.
    • Bilingual speaking and/or writing skills are a plus.

    Knowledge & Skills

    • Thorough knowledge of midwifery practice standards, clinical protocols, and applicable professional guidelines.
    • Strong analytical and assessment skills for patient care planning and follow-up care.
    • Effective interpersonal skills for working with patients, families, physicians, nurses, and other professionals.
    • Excellent oral and written communication skills necessary for patient, family, physician, and referral-source communication.
    • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team-based care model.

    Working Environment and Physical Demands

    • Requires physical stamina, including prolonged standing, walking, pushing carts or wheelchairs, assisting patients, and lifting to 50 pounds.
    • Requires ability to position or lift patients up to 35 pounds without assistance and provide CPR or emergency response support when needed.
    • May involve exposure to clinical environments, biohazards, and regulated healthcare settings; adherence to safety protocols is required.
    • Errors in performance may result in serious patient harm.
