Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced MIG/TIG Welder for our client close to Decatur,AL. As a Welder you will weld MIG/TIG custom ornamental metal components. You will work primarily with stainless steel, aluminum, and brass, transforming detailed blueprints into flawless architectural pieces. This is a great opportunity to work with a leading automotive manufacturer while building your long-term career.
Responsibilities
- TIG Welding: Perform high-quality, visually clean TIG welds on various gauges of metal MIG Experience.
- Fitting & Fabrication: Read blueprints to fit, align, and tack-weld components accurately.
- Material Prep: Cut, grind, and prep materials to meet strict aesthetic and structural specs.
- Quality Control: Inspect finished products to ensure zero defects and smooth finishes.
- Safety: Maintain a clean, organized workstation and adhere to all shop safety protocols.
- Follow safe work practices.
- Clean up the work area at the end of the day.
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
- 3+ years of professional MIG/TIG welding experience, preferably in ornamental metalwork.
- Technical Skill: Proven ability to create clean, "stack-of-dimes " welds on thin-gauge materials.
- Blueprint Literacy: Advanced ability to read and interpret complex architectural drawings.
- Math Skills: Strong knowledge of geometry and fractions for accurate layout and fitting.
- Tools: Proficient with fabrication tools like grinders, saws, shears, and fixtures.
- Testing: Must pass an in-house blueprint reading and TIG welding test.
- High School Diploma/GED or graduation from certified technical school.
- Must accurately read tape measure (assessment given).
- Strong work ethic, good attendance, and ability to follow instructions.
- Must be able to lift up to 70 lbs. and work occasional overtime.
- Steel-toed boots required.
- Must pass background & drug screening.
- Must be able to pass a Blueprint reading & Welding Test
