Milling Head Machine Operator

Job Summary:

The Asphalt Milling Machine Operator is responsible for operating the milling machine to remove asphalt and/or concrete pavement to specific depth, ensuring safety and efficiency in the job. This position is a crew member essential to the removal/milling of asphalt or concrete on highways, private roadways, parking lots and driveways. This is a highly skilled position involving the grade control and operation of a cold asphalt milling machine.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

• Operating and maintaining the milling machine to remove and mill asphalt or concrete on various surfaces.

• Using grade control devices to ensure proper cutting patterns on pavement surfaces.

• Set-up, adjust controls on milling machine for each specific project to achieve the desired depth.

• Inspecting and replacing milling teeth on the milling drum to maintain optimal cutting performance.

• Performing general laborer duties as assigned, including lifting, bending, and standing.

• Maintaining visual contactwith co-workers on the ground and trucks in front of the machine.

• Performing preventive maintenancetasks such as adjusting, fluid checks, replacing parts, and lubricating equipment.
