Miscellaneous Metals Estimator

We are seeking an experienced Estimator to support miscellaneous metals and custom steel fabrication projects. This position will review drawings and specifications, prepare detailed takeoffs and estimates, coordinate vendor pricing, and develop complete proposals for commercial and industrial work.

The ideal candidate will understand both estimating and the practical requirements of shop fabrication and field installation. Experience with stairs, railings, ladders, platforms, supports, embeds, and other miscellaneous metal packages is strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Review drawings, specifications, addenda, and bid documents to define project scope
• Prepare detailed material, labor, fabrication, equipment, and installation takeoffs
• Solicit and evaluate vendor, supplier, and subcontractor pricing
• Develop accurate estimates, bid summaries, proposals, clarifications, and exclusions
• Identify scope gaps, constructability concerns, schedule risks, and value engineering opportunities
• Coordinate with project managers, shop personnel, detailers, vendors, and field teams
• Participate in prebid reviews, scope meetings, handoffs, and postbid follow up
• Maintain accurate estimating records, historical costs, and bid documentation

Qualifications

• Experience estimating miscellaneous metals, structural steel, architectural metals, or custom fabrication work
• Ability to read and interpret structural, architectural, and fabrication drawings
• Knowledge of steel materials, fabrication processes, labor requirements, and field installation
• Experience preparing detailed takeoffs, bid packages, proposals, clarifications, and exclusions
• Proficiency with digital takeoff software, spreadsheets, and construction estimating tools
• Strong attention to detail, organization, communication, and deadline management
• Ability to coordinate effectively with clients, vendors, project teams, shop personnel, and field operations
