Mitigation & Reconstruction Project Manager


Area: Long Island and NYC Boroughs when necessary 
 
Position Overview
 
We are seeking an experienced and motivated Hybrid Mitigation Manager / Construction Manager to oversee both mitigation and reconstruction projects from initial loss through final completion. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of five years of project management experience in restoration, mitigation, and/or construction, possess a strong network of qualified subcontractors, and demonstrate exceptional customer service and leadership skills. This role is responsible for driving sales, managing project profitability, ensuring customer satisfaction, and overseeing all phases of restoration and reconstruction work.

Primary Responsibilities
 
Business Development & Sales
  • Evaluate, estimate, and sell mitigation and reconstruction projects
  • Develop and maintain relationships with insurance professionals, property managers, adjusters, and referral sources
  • Educate customers on restoration and construction services
  • Obtain customer authorization and agreements on project scope and estimates
 
Project Management
  • Identify, document, and manage project scope of work for both mitigation and reconstruction projects
  • Conduct site inspections and develop project plans, schedules, and budgets
  • Create and manage job timelines to ensure projects are completed on time and within budget
  • Monitor job costs, profitability, and project performance
  • Ensure proper permits are obtained and all work complies with local codes and regulations
 
Mitigation Operations
  • Manage water, fire, mold, and specialty mitigation projects
  • Oversee emergency response efforts and stabilization activities
  • Ensure proper use of drying equipment, documentation, and moisture monitoring practices
  • Review project documentation for completeness and accuracy using DryBook and other restoration software platform
 
Construction Operations
  • Coordinate and supervise subcontractors, vendors, and internal production crews
  • Review construction estimates and change orders
  • Procure materials and ensure timely delivery to job sites
  • Conduct quality control inspections throughout the project lifecycle
 
Customer & Client Relations
  • Maintain consistent communication with customers, insurance carriers, adjusters, consultants, and other stakeholders
  • Set clear expectations and provide regular project updates
  • Resolve customer concerns promptly and professionally
  • Deliver an exceptional customer experience throughout the restoration and reconstruction process
 
Team Leadership
  • Mentor and support technicians, project coordinators, and subcontractors
  • Ensure team adherence to company policies, safety standards, and operational procedures
  • Participate in recruiting, training, and development of restoration and construction personnel
 
Qualifications
  • Minimum 5 years of restoration, mitigation, and/or construction project management experience
  • Strong working knowledge of water, fire, mold, and reconstruction projects
  • Proficiency with Xactimate and restoration industry software
  • Proven estimating and sales experience
  • Strong network of subcontractors and trade partners
  • Excellent customer service and relationship-building skills
  • Strong organizational, leadership, and communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment
  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • PMP, WRT, ASD, AMRT, or related industry certifications preferred
  • Valid Driver's License with a clean driving record
 
Physical and Work Environment Requirements
  • Exposure to extreme temperatures and environmental conditions common to restoration projects
  • Ability to walk, stand, climb, bend, and lift for extended periods
  • Ability to climb ladders and work at ceiling heights
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
  • Frequent driving between job sites, client meetings, and branch locations
  • Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE)
