Company Headquarters: Chester, MDTravel: Regional travel throughout the Mid-Atlantic (MD, VA, DE, PA, NJ)Job Type: Full-TimeOverviewDrill-Tech is seeking a Mobile HDD Equipment Mechanic to maintain, troubleshoot, and repair horizontal directional drilling equipment and support equipment throughout the Mid-Atlantic region.Headquartered in Chester, Maryland, Drill-Tech performs HDD and underground utility work across the region.This position is responsible for keeping equipment operating safely and efficiently by performing preventative maintenance, diagnosing mechanical, hydraulic, diesel, and electrical issues, and completing repairs in both the field and shop as needed.The successful candidate will work on a diverse fleet of HDD equipment, heavy construction equipment, on-road trucks and trailers, support equipment, and service vehicles. ResponsibilitiesDiagnose, troubleshoot, and repair equipment in both the field and shopPerform preventative maintenance and scheduled servicing on company equipmentTroubleshoot hydraulic, diesel, electrical, mechanical, and electronic systemsPerform emergency field repairs to minimize equipment downtimeService and repair Vermeer horizontal directional drilling equipmentMaintain maintenance records and communicate repair needs to field leadershipCoordinate with field crews regarding equipment availability and repair schedulesTravel throughout the Mid-Atlantic to support active projects Equipment You'll Work OnHorizontal directional drilling (HDD) rigs, including mini, midi, and large maxi rigsDiesel engines, hydraulic systems, drill pipe handling systems, and onboard drill controlsDrilling fluid systems, including mud mixers, mud pumps, and recycling/reclaiming unitsVacuum excavation equipment, including hydrovac and vacuum trucksHeavy construction equipment, including excavators, mini excavators, backhoes, skid steers, loaders, and dozersHDPE pipe fusion equipment and related pipe-handling equipmentHeavy trucks, lowboy trailers, equipment trailers, water trucks, fuel and lube trucks, and service trucksCrew pickup trucks and light-duty service vehiclesGenerators, air compressors, pumps, light towers, and other auxiliary jobsite equipment Qualifications5+ years of heavy equipment or diesel mechanic experienceExperience troubleshooting hydraulic, diesel, electrical, and mechanical systemsAbility to work independently with minimal supervisionValid driver's licenseWillingness to travel throughout the Mid-Atlantic region Preferred QualificationsExperience servicing Vermeer HDD equipmentExperience maintaining horizontal directional drilling rigs and drilling support equipmentExperience repairing mud systems, mud pumps, recyclers, and vacuum excavation equipmentExperience working on excavators, skid steers, loaders, backhoes, and other heavy construction equipmentExperience maintaining heavy trucks, trailers, and DOT-regulated equipmentClass A CDLWelding and fabrication experienceKnowledge of DOT inspections and fleet compliance requirements BenefitsHealth insuranceDental insuranceVision insurancePaid holidaysOpportunities for advancement within a growing HDD contractor
