Mortgage Loan Originator (MLO) Job Description
Location: Atlanta, GA Reports to: Regional Manager Company: Masters Home Mortgage LLC
Position Summary
The Mortgage Loan Originator is responsible for guiding clients through the mortgage loan process from initial application to closing. This role requires strong interpersonal skills, regulatory knowledge, and a commitment to delivering exceptional service. The MLO will work closely with borrowers, realtors, processors, and underwriters to ensure timely and compliant loan origination.
Key Responsibilities
Originate residential mortgage loans in compliance with company and regulatory guidelines.
Meet with borrowers to assess financial needs and recommend appropriate loan products.
Collect and review financial documentation to determine loan eligibility.
Submit complete loan applications and monitor their progress through underwriting and closing.
Maintain regular communication with clients, referral partners, and internal teams.
Stay current on mortgage products, underwriting guidelines, and industry trends.
Ensure compliance with the Secure and Fair Enforcement for Mortgage Licensing Act (SAFE Act) and other applicable laws.
Qualifications
Active NMLS registration and valid state license(s) for all states where loans will be originated.
Demonstrated financial responsibility, character, and fitness as required by the SAFE Act.
Minimum of 2 years experience in mortgage lending or financial services (preferred).
Strong knowledge of FHA, VA, Conventional, and Non-QM loan products.
Proficiency with loan origination systems and CRM platforms.
Excellent communication, sales, and customer service skills.
Ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently.
Compliance & Licensing
All MLOs must be registered with the NMLS and maintain valid licenses for each state of operation.
Background checks are required prior to employment, in accordance with FCRA and ADA guidelines.
