Motor Equipment Operator II - Class AThe City of College Park's Department of Public Works has an immediate opening for Motor Equipment Operator II. This position requires a valid Class A CDL driver's license with endorsements. The person selected for this role must be able to operate: a 30-35-ton trash truck, a dump truck with a snowplow, a dump truck pulling a 25-cubic-yard leaf machine, and other specialized equipment, as well as perform manual labor. This position is considered essential in emergencies and severe weather events. Incumbents must be willing and able to work long shifts in adverse conditions. All essential personnel may be required to report for duty on short notice or to remain on duty beyond the regular shift. Qualifications: A high school diploma or equivalent. 3-5 years of experience operating motorized equipment. Valid Class A Driver's license in the state of residence with the following endorsements: Air Brake EndorsementTanker EndorsementA safe driving record.Registered with the Federal Clearing House and have non-prohibited status. This is a full-time position (40 hours) with benefits, including Maryland State Retirement. The hourly rate ranges from $28.81 to $29.54.All candidates considered for the position will be required to undergo a background investigation, a pre-employment physical, and a drug screening.
