The Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) Technologist works under the supervision of leadership. The MRI technologists perform scans using radiofrequencies within a magnetic field to produce images of bones, organs, and soft tissue. They also prepare and administer contrast agents to obtain some images. MRI technologist can work in various clinical environments, such as the hospital or diagnostic imaging centers. MRI Technologists may rotate into other modalities including CT, fluoroscopy, and diagnostic radiology.

Essential Technical/Motor Skills
- Inputting data, calibrating equipment, answering telephone, speaking clearly, manipulating small items, fine motor skills, knowledge of body mechanics and CPR. Ability to prioritize multiple tasks.
Interpersonal Skills
- Effective communication skills and ability to interact with patients, staff, visitors, physicians, etc. Must work well as a team member.

- Walking, pushing, pulling, lifting 35 lbs, restraining, standing, kneeling, moving equipment, speaking.

- Interpret a provider''s instructions.
- Screen patients for safety prior to entering zone 4.
- Explain MRI, fluoroscopy, and/or diagnostic procedures to patients.
- Prepare patients for procedures.
- Select software options and imaging parameters when adjusting imaging equipment.
- View images from an imaging session and keep records of the results.
- Review and complete patient exam and charges within the radiology information system.
