This Opening is for the Rockledge Freestanding Emergency Department. Day and Night Shifts are available.

POSITION SUMMARY

The Monitor Technician Health Unit Coordinator (HUC) organizes unit activities, coordinates and relays information to clinicians, patients and families in an accurate and timely manner.

PRIMARY ACCOUNTABILITIES

1. Initiates patient set-up and maintains monitoring equipment, prints, and identifies and reports arrhythmias accurately.

2. Ensures accurate order management and communicates vital information to the appropriate staff, and that orders received are initiated in a timely manner.

3. Utilizes Health First computer systems with regards to order management.

4. Facilitates response to call lights within a timely manner.

5. Admits, discharges and transfers patients in a timely manner.

6. Facilitates telephone communication between licensed staff and physicians.

7. Maintains patient''s current demographic information.

8. Provides service to patients and families with sensitivity and respect for their needs, including coordinating appointments and transportation as needed for patients.

9. Responds to team members and other departments in a courteous and helpful manner.

10. Contributes to the patient experience as evidenced by positive patient satisfaction scores, and Emergency Department Healthcare Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems (ED-CAHPS) scores for department/medical center; supports the Health First Philosophy.

Work Experience

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• Education:
• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Completion of dysrhythmia course with grade of 80%.
• Work Experience: Completion of eighty (80) clinical hours.
• Licensure: None
• Certification: American Heart Association Basic Life Support (AHA BLS) Healthcare Provider Completion Card prior to start date and maintained.
• Skills/Knowledge/Abilities:
• Must have ability to work in often stressful environment with patients/families at various ages and levels of understanding.
• Must have ability to concentrate on multiple priority activities.
• Must have ability to respond appropriately to life threatening situations.
• Must have critical thinking and problem solving skills.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

• Physically agile; may require walking, standing, running, bending, stooping, kneeling, climbing, or crouching frequently.
• May occasionally include lifting or moving objects up to 50 pounds, with or without assistance.
• May require moving in different positions to accomplish tasks in various environments including tight and confined spaces, including reaching out and above shoulders, or overhead.
• May lift, turn, pull, push, or ambulate people and/or equipment with or without assistance up to 90% of the assigned shift.
• May be exposed to inside and outside environments with varied temperatures, air quality, lighting, and/or low to loud noise.
• May require working with biohazards such as blood/body fluids and airborne particles following OSHA and CDC guidelines.
• Communicating with others to exchange information.
• Visual acuity and hand-eye coordination to perform tasks.
• Workspace may vary from open to confined.
• May require travel to various facilities within and beyond county perimeter; may require use of personal vehicle.
