Job Details

We are looking for a seasoned Municipal Law Attorney to provide top-tier legal counsel and representation to public agencies, including cities and special districts. This role is ideal for an attorney with a strong foundation in municipal law and a passion for addressing diverse legal challenges. From land use and contracts to ordinance drafting and governance, you’ll play a key role in supporting public agencies’ goals with practical, ethical, and innovative legal solutions.

Responsibilities:

Provide clear, practical legal guidance to public agencies, such as cities and special districts, on complex issues like land use, contracts, and governance.
Take ownership of drafting and reviewing ordinances, resolutions, and policies to ensure they comply with state and federal laws.
Attend and represent clients in administrative hearings, city council meetings, and planning commissions.
Collaborate with teams and clients to navigate challenges in public law, finding innovative solutions that drive results.
Offer training to public agency staff on essential legal topics, such as AB 1234 compliance, keeping them informed and ahead of the curve.

Qualifications:

At least 5 years of legal practice, preferably in public agency, municipal law, or a related field.
You’re sharp, proactive, and detail-oriented, with excellent research, analytical, and communication skills.
You thrive in a team environment but are equally comfortable managing projects independently.
You’re a member in good standing with the California State Bar.
Experience with government contracting, land use, labor and employment law, or environmental law is a bonus (but not required!).
