The next great challenge is coming:

As a Senior Narrative Designer, you will lead the narrative design of complete, game-ready regions for a co-operative survival action-RPG with life-simulation systems, set in a classic high-fantasy world. Working from the project's existing lore, characters, and tone, you will craft the story arcs, dialogue, and shared narrative moments that give each region its identity.

You will own the narrative design of the regions in production, writing the narrative of quest lines, NPC dialogue, and in-world storytelling, and implementing that writing into the quest structures Quest Design builds in Unreal Engine 5.

You are expected to operate with a high degree of autonomy and hold your work to an uncompromising standard.

Superpowers you have:

• 6+ years of professional experience in Narrative Design or Game Writing on PC or console titles.
• At least one shipped title with substantial narrative or writing ownership.
• Hands-on experience with Unreal Engine 5, including implementing dialogue and quest content in-engine.
• Proven ability to write systemic, non-linear, replayable narrative for co-operative multiplayer, including barks and reactive dialogue.
• Experience writing quest lines and NPC dialogue for RPG or open-world content.
• Experience collaborating with Quest Design and Game Design to integrate story into gameplay and environmental storytelling.
• Experience reviewing or mentoring other writers.
• Strong documentation skills.
• Excellent written and verbal English.

You're a rockstar if you have:

• Familiarity with high-fantasy or tabletop role-playing fiction.
• Experience writing narrative around survival, crafting, base-building, or life-simulation systems.
• Experience writing for live-service or episodic content.
• Experience working in a distributed team across multiple time zones.

Becoming part of Room 8 Group, you will:

• Lead the narrative design of new regions - region story arcs, characters, quest premises, and shared narrative moments - consistent with the project's established lore, characters, and tone.
• Write quest dialogue, NPC conversations, barks, and in-world storytelling that hold up across co-operative play and repeated visits to the same region.
• Implement dialogue and narrative content in Unreal Engine 5 using the project's dialogue tooling, inside the quest structures Quest Design owns.
• Partner with Quest Design and Game Design to weave narrative beats into quest flow, dungeons, encounters, and environmental storytelling.
• Adapt writing to an emergent, replayable structure where players may experience beats in different orders, together or alone.
• Prepare scripts for voice-over recording where required, and support recording sessions with the audio team.
• Set and uphold the narrative quality bar across the team, reviewing and mentoring the Middle Narrative Designer.
• Maintain detailed narrative documentation, including quest scripts, character voice guides, and dialogue references.
