    This Opportunity

    WSP is seeking a Natural Resources Consultant to support our Texas & Louisiana region. This position will be part of our Earth & Environment Team, supporting a variety of natural resources, environmental permitting, and ecological assessment projects throughout the region. As part of a growing organization, you will work alongside scientists, planners, engineers, and environmental professionals to help clients navigate complex environmental challenges while promoting responsible resource management and regulatory compliance.

    The ideal candidate will have experience supporting natural resources projects, conducting environmental field investigations, evaluating ecological resources, and coordinating with regulatory agencies. This role provides the opportunity to expand technical expertise, contribute to diverse energy and infrastructure projects, and support environmental stewardship initiatives across multiple market sectors.

    As our natural resources practice continues to grow, you will assist with environmental assessments, biological surveys, habitat evaluations, permitting efforts, and compliance support for energy, industrial, infrastructure, and land development projects.

    Your Impact

    • Support project managers in the execution of natural resources and environmental permitting projects, helping ensure high-quality deliverables are completed on schedule and within budget.

    • Conduct field investigations, biological assessments, habitat evaluations, wetland delineations, vegetation surveys, and other natural resource studies to support project development.

    • Evaluate potential environmental impacts to wetlands, streams, wildlife habitat, threatened and endangered species, and other sensitive natural resources.

    • Prepare technical reports, environmental analyses, permit applications, agency coordination materials, and regulatory compliance documentation.

    • Assist with federal, state, and local environmental permitting efforts, including resource agency consultation and environmental review processes.

    • Support field data collection, analysis, and interpretation to inform project planning and environmental decision-making.

    • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to identify environmental constraints, develop mitigation strategies, and support sustainable project solutions.

    • Coordinate with regulatory agencies, project stakeholders, landowners, and clients to support project advancement and compliance requirements.

    • Monitor environmental regulations, permitting requirements, and natural resource management practices relevant to energy, industrial, and infrastructure projects.

    • Maintain accurate field records, environmental databases, GIS information, and project documentation.

    • Participate in fieldwork, site visits, agency meetings, and client engagements throughout the Gulf South region as needed.

    • Promote health, safety, and environmental stewardship while supporting WSP''s commitment to sustainable project delivery.

    Who You Are

    Required Qualifications

    • Bachelor''s degree in Environmental Science, Natural Resources Management, Biology, Ecology, Environmental Planning, Wildlife Biology, or a related field.

    • 3-5 years of experience supporting natural resources, ecological consulting, environmental permitting, or related environmental projects.

    • Experience conducting environmental field surveys and natural resource assessments.

    • Familiarity with wetland regulations, threatened and endangered species considerations, habitat assessments, and natural resource permitting requirements.

    • Knowledge of federal, state, and local environmental regulations, including environmental compliance and permitting frameworks.

    • Experience preparing technical reports, environmental assessments, permit applications, and resource agency correspondence.

    • Familiarity with energy, infrastructure, industrial, transportation, renewable energy, transmission, or similar development projects.

    • Working knowledge of GIS applications, environmental data collection methods, and field documentation practices.

    • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.

    • Effective written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to communicate technical information to diverse audiences.

    • Ability to manage multiple assignments concurrently while maintaining quality and meeting deadlines.

    • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and standard environmental data management tools.

    • Valid driver''s license and willingness to travel for field assignments, project meetings, and site visits.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Professional certifications or progress toward certification such as Professional Wetland Scientist (PWS), Certified Wildlife Biologist (CWB), or similar environmental credentials.

    • Experience with wetland delineations, Section 404/401 permitting, threatened and endangered species surveys, or ecological restoration projects.
