POSITION SUMMARY: The NSI assists the Senior Naval Science Instructor (SNSI) in managing and implementing the overall Naval Junior Reserve Officer Training Core (NJROTC) unit program according to national, state, and district standards. The NSI is responsible for implementing the Navy's national education curriculum and program requirements to include the preparation, planning, coordination, and supervision of all co-curricular service learning, special activities or events (military ball, drill meets, honor guards, and other extra-curricular activities), as well as promoting the cadets' intellectual, social, patriotic, character education, and physical growth.

OTHER JOB DUTIES: (Duties listed are not intended to be all inclusive nor limit duties that might reasonably be assigned.) Performs related work as required or assigned by the School Principal or designee.
PHYSICAL AND PSYCHOLOGICAL CONDITIONS/DEMANDS: Position requires significant periods of standing and walking and is performed in a typical school environment.
UNUSUAL DEMANDS: May be subject to a flexible work schedule.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Twelve (12) month position with salary determined by the Department of Navy. An additional annual stipend is included for work beyond the normal school day. All employees are encouraged to have automatic payroll deposit.
EVALUATION: Performance will be evaluated in accordance with the policy on evaluation as established by the Calvert County Public Schools.

References must be directly related to educational experience and must include immediate supervisor.
State law requires that anyone hired after October 1, 1986, who will have contact with school children, must be fingerprinted and submit to a criminal background investigation. Federal law requires that a new employee must complete the Employment Eligibility Verification (Form I-9) in person before beginning employment. Employment is conditional upon successful completion of a drug screen. Current employees of the Calvert County Public Schools are exempt from these requirements.
