Network and System Engineer

SNELLING is currently seeking a Network & Systems Engineer for a well-established East Texas technology services company. This is a Temp-to-hire opportunity for an experienced IT professional who enjoys designing, implementing, and supporting complex network environments. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical expertise, excellent problem-solving abilities, and a customer-focused mindset. Candidates who demonstrate strong attendance, performance, and professionalism may be considered for permanent hire.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, implement, configure, and maintain network infrastructure including LAN, WAN, Wi-Fi, and telecommunications systems
• Install, support, and troubleshoot servers, computers, switches, routers, wireless devices, printers, and related hardware
• Provide network administration, user access management, and security support
• Perform system upgrades, maintenance, and infrastructure improvements
• Deliver routine after-hours maintenance and emergency support as needed
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex network, server, and connectivity issues
• Develop and maintain documentation related to network configurations, procedures, and standards
• Research, evaluate, and recommend new technologies, hardware, and software solutions
• Assist in planning and executing technology projects, migrations, and strategic initiatives
• Collaborate with customers, management, and technical teams to ensure successful project delivery
• Mentor junior team members through knowledge sharing and technical guidance
• Maintain compliance with organizational security policies, backup procedures, and technology standards
• Provide exceptional customer service and technical support to clients and end users

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Information Systems, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field required
• 2-4 years of experience supporting network infrastructure, servers, and communications equipment
• Strong knowledge of network installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair
• Experience supporting Windows Server environments
• Experience with routers, switches, firewalls, wireless technologies, and network security concepts
• Ability to diagnose and resolve complex technical issues
• Strong project management, organizational, and prioritization skills
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Valid Texas driver's license required
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform physical installation work as needed
• No criminal convictions
• Must be able to pass a criminal background check

Preferred Qualities

• Experience with VoIP systems and advanced wireless networking
• Experience with VMware, Hyper-V, virtual desktop infrastructure (VDI), or other virtualization technologies
• Microsoft, Cisco, or other industry certifications preferred
• Self-starter with strong troubleshooting and analytical skills
• Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously
• Strong customer service mindset with a professional demeanor
• Passion for staying current with emerging technologies and industry trends
• Experience mentoring or supporting less experienced team members
